Ga. district is being reviewed by state special-education officials

State education officials in Georgia conducted unannounced visits at schools in Mitchell County in response to concerns by a district official about special-education programs there. District Special Education Coordinator Susan Gainous says that academic goals are not being set or addressed for students with special needs -- as required by law. State officials plan to make the results of their investigation available to the schools upon completion.
