Lawmakers want Army Corps to maintain flood project in New Orleans

Sens. Mary Landrieu, D-La., and David Vitter, R-La., plan to file a bill that would make the Army Corps of Engineers responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drainage pumping station and floodgate in the New Orleans' West Bank area. This came as the Army Corps cited an agreement with the state, which entrusts the responsibility to the state or a local authority, a view opposed by a local levee board.
