Parts of Switzerland face teacher shortages

The German-speaking parts of Switzerland are facing teacher shortages -- particularly in French, physics, chemistry and special education. "Fundamentally, we have too few teachers in canton Zurich and indeed the whole of German-speaking Switzerland. That forces many schools to employ teachers in positions for which they haven't been adequately trained," said Peter Gerber, president of the association of head teachers in canton Zurich. Gerber suggests that teachers be trained in multiple subjects to help solve the issue of proper training.
