Retailers beat March sales expectations

Merchants including discount warehouse chain Costco and apparel retailers Limited and Hot Topic reported better-than-expected March sales. Stronger sales of full-price spring merchandise indicates that consumers are willing to shop again. "Retail sales are starting to improve, and retailers are importing merchandise in the quantities they need to meet that demand," said National Retail Federation spokesman Jonathan Gold.
