U.S. ethanol production, demand set records in January

The U.S. ethanol industry produced a record-setting average of more than 818,000 barrels per day in January, up from 188,000 in January 2009, according to the Energy Information Administration. The average daily demand for ethanol reached an all-time high of 784,000 barrels in January, up from 644,000 barrels a year ago, according to the Renewable Fuels Association.
