White House acts to smooth government use of social media

The White House has issued new guidelines that are intended to allow the federal government to communicate with the public via tweets, blogs and wiki, without triggering the Paperwork Reduction Act. The latter, which mandates that federal officials document the need to collect information with a special form, reportedly can delay communications for months.
