Mo. governor proposes additional funding for dog-breeder oversight

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has proposed adding $1.1 million to the state's budget to enhance oversight of in-state dog breeding facilities, by recruiting 10 additional veterinarians, inspectors and other staffers for the state's agriculture department. A state Senate panel met Wednesday to discuss the agriculture budget, but made no decision on Nixon's proposal.
