FDA approves PET imaging agent Amyvid

The FDA approved Eli Lilly and Co. and Avid Radiopharmaceuticals' Amyvid, a PET imaging agent used to detect beta-amyloid plaques, which are associated with Alzheimer's disease. The agent was tested in seriously ill patients who had agreed to a postmortem brain exam.
