$6.8B wind-power transmission project in Texas is almost done

A 3,500-mile transmission-line project meant to send wind power from western Texas to consumers in the eastern part of the state is due for completion by the end of 2013, but cost overruns and the slower-than-expected development of new wind farms could trigger renewed criticism of the project. Wind-power supporters, however, say that investing in the project will turn out to be good for the state. "In a decade, we're going to look back at the ... investment as one of the most visionary things we did," said Jeff Clark, executive director of the Wind Coalition.
