BabyQ app provides tips to expectant mothers

The idea for an application for pregnant women grew out of a doctor's experience sending tips to his pregnant daughter. Drs. Mark Gostine and Gareth Forde developed the babyQ app in conjunction with ProCare Systems. Pregnant women receive customized tips after filling out a 22-question survey. Health-related apps are becoming popular as "health care companies now view mobile phones as a great way to reach patients 24/7," Mike Brennan writes. More than 3 million free mHealth downloads for iOS have been documented in the U.S., along with 300,000 paid downloads, according to Research2Guidance.
