Clergy group tries to stop Ill. marriage bill

A day after a group of black pastors called for passage of a marriage-equality bill in Illinois, a separate group including Chicago's Roman Catholic Cardinal Francis George met to devise a strategy to stop the legislation. Two Republican members of the Illinois House have announced their support for the measure, and LGBT advocates say they believe they have the momentum going into this week. A vote on the bill could come any day between now and May 31.
