Makers of generics are urged to keep prices low in India

The All India Drugs Control Officers Confederation asked local generic-drug makers not to price their products excessively in light of the Indian Supreme Court's recent drug patent ruling. Multinational companies and major drug makers have an obligation to society, AIDCOC General Secretary Uday Bhasker said. Companies are reducing the production of essential treatments, which is causing artificial demand and medical crises, Bhasker added.
