South Korean companies' dividend payouts down in 2012

Dividends paid to foreign holders of stock in South Korea's Kospi-listed companies were down 15% last year from 2011, even though combined net incomes were up slightly, according to data compiled by the Korea Exchange. However, the profit totals were inflated by results at Samsung and Hyundai. Excluding those two companies, average net profit for 499 companies was down 33% last year.
