Ala. club donates $300 to typhoon-destroyed school in the Philippines

Members of the Beta Club at Daleville High School in Alabama aim to spread global awareness with a $300 donation to help a school in the Philippines that was destroyed last year by a typhoon. For two months, the students collected change for "Pennies for the Philippines" after hearing about a Filipina teacher who studied in the U.S. but returned to the Philippines to teach. "It (the project) helps students understand that sometimes people are less fortunate," said student Julius Hammond, the club's president.
