VOD viewing hit 4.4B hours in 2013, Rentrak says

Viewers last year watched 4.4 billion hours of free video-on-demand broadcast primetime television content, up 24% from 2012, according to Rentrak. The market research firm estimated that an average of 43.3 million televisions around the world accessed VOD content, with an average of 8.7 hours devoted to VOD each month. "The consumer is utilizing the VOD button on their remote in a bigger way than ever," Rentrak Vice Chairman and CEO Bill Livek said.
