Bilingual Education Stirs Controversy In Arizona, Colorado

A federal judge yesterday ruled that Arizona needs to spend more on educating 150,000 English-learner students, despite the state Legislature's doubling of the amount spent per student, reports say. Meanwhile, the Colorado Supreme Court has said the language used in a ballot initiative to restrict bilingual education is misleading and should be fixed.
