China's food exports go unregulated

Chinese farmers, who provide 12% of the world's fruits and vegetables, often use industrial chemicals to grow their food, most of which is not considered safe by the USDA. "Despite many efforts, food regulations and standards have been developed in an ad hoc way without the benefit of a basic food law," said a World Health Organization representative in China.
