FDA to increase peanut butter investigations

Peanut butter is a riskier food than previously thought, according to the Food and Drug Administration, which will increase the frequency of investigations for facilities that produce peanut butter, a known vehicle for salmonella. "I would be pretty certain that every other peanut butter producer is having the same thought we are and is paying a lot of attention to it to make sure that it doesn't happen," said Dr. David Acheson, chief medical officer of FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
