Louisiana spillway provides good source of clay for levees

Clay from Louisiana's Bonnet Carre Spillway is typically used in construction projects around New Orleans, but the spillway has turned out to be crucial in building up levees. Contractors hauling clay out of the spillway for a project to raise the East Jefferson levee along Lake Pontchartrain praised the quality of the clay and, with the need for more than 500,000 cubic yards of clay for the levee, they need any help they can get.
