Study: Virtual colonoscopy may not require extensive bowel cleansing

A small Dutch study of patients undergoing virtual colonoscopy claims that patients need not go through extensive bowel preparation because fecal tagging allows doctors to distinguish between fecal material and polyps or cancer. The technique could encourage more at-risk patients to undergo colon cancer screening, the researchers said.
