Young UC patient lobbies for IBD Day in Illinois

Ten-year-old Annemarie Peterson, who has ulcerative colitis, plans to give a speech this week to the Illinois Senate in support of an Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day in the state. Peterson -- who has experienced multiple hospitalizations, exams and medications, as well as severe bowel symptoms that could eventually lead to the removal of her colon -- tries to keep a positive attitude, saying, "It's been rough ... but I've learned that if it controls me, I'll never be able to live my life."
