BYOB -- even in Manhattan's finest restaurants

Many restaurants offer wine specials, but some fine-dining eateries are letting patrons bring their own wine at no charge. Manhattan's Modern restaurant in the Museum of Modern Art offers "no corkage" on Sundays in the bar room. Another city restaurant, Alto, completely dropped its corkage fee and has said it recognizes that times are tough even for fine diners.
