Researchers create new model for blood cell formation

Irish researchers have created a new model to help explain how hematopoietic stem cells form into red and white blood cells. The model, which is based on various studies on stem cell formation, supports the recent finding that stem cells that have already turned into a certain cell type can turn back into a stem cell. The new model may aid in the development of drugs for blood disorders such as leukemia.
