GMA responds to call for smaller packaging

The Center for Science in the Public Interest is asking the FDA and state attorneys general to enforce federal regulations on the allowable empty space in food packages. The group said smaller containers would be environmentally beneficial and would also be convenient for retailers and consumers. The industry is working on ways to cut packaging, said the Grocery Manufacturers Association, but "the realities are that there are a multitude of reasons why certain packages are certain sizes."
