House to check out FCC-proposed set-top "gateway"

The House Communications Subcommittee has set a hearing for Thursday morning on an FCC-proposed set-top "gateway" device that would allow TV screens to more easily play online videos. According to this report, the FCC likes the device because it could spark broadband adoption as well as create a new retail market for set-tops.
