Senate bill could end tax exemption on muni bonds

Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Dan Coats, R-Ind., have introduced a bill that would eliminate the tax exemption for investors who buy state and local municipal bonds. The legislation follows a similar proposal recently floated by leaders of President Barack Obama's deficit-reduction commission. The bill would replace the exemption with a tax credit.
