Calif. district invests in school technology, training

In Redwood City, Calif., officials have invested in several programs intended to give students greater access to technology. The district leased 500 new Apple computers in 2010 and 300 last year at a cost totaling $350,156. The district also plans to budget money to help train the school staff to use the new technology. "It's like a paperweight, you have the technology, but you have to know how to use it," said Superintendent Jan Christensen.
