Finland is internationally recognised as a leader in education, but other countries have found its success difficult to replicate. At issue, according to Adam Lopez, a primary-school teacher in South Wales, is the complexity of Finland's education system, which is based around the concept of teachers as highly qualified professionals. Finland also has adopted a "less can be more" philosophy in regard to education, he writes.
