Precast repairs for highways gaining popularity in Canada

The use of precast concrete patches for repairing deteriorating concrete pavement is gaining interest from several Canadian provinces, according to Tom Kazmierowski, Ontario Ministry of Transportation manager for materials engineering and research. A trial of the precast work was done in Ontario and roads have held up well, Kazmierowski said. Use of the precast patches allows faster completion with fewer and shorter road closures and less traffic interruption.
