Workers have more legal protections, lawyer notes

More states have passed tough penalties for employers that misclassify workers, and workers have gained whistle-blower protections through the Dodd-Frank Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, writes R. Scott Oswald of The Employment Law Group. As a result, companies "must be more careful in how they pay their workers and must be more rigorous in their human resources compliance," Oswald writes.
