Banks used small-business loan funds to exit TARP, report says

Of the 332 community banks taking part in a Treasury Department small-business lending program, 137 used some of the money to exit the Troubled Asset Relief Program, according to a report by the special inspector general for TARP. Among the banks that participated in the small-business lending program, those that also took TARP funds increased lending by little or not at all, the report found. The Obama administration disputed the findings.
