Poll: More Americans back fracking for natural gas development

Forty-five percent of Americans back hydraulic fracturing as a means to extract natural gas, compared with 41% who are against it, a University of Texas poll found. "More consumers -- 43 percent today versus 38 percent a year ago -- say there should be more regulation of hydraulic fracturing," said Sheril Kirshenbaum, director of the UT Energy Poll. The survey also found that 28% of respondents believe the U.S. should pursue natural gas exports, while 39% are opposed to it.
