Social studies lessons get a boost from technology

Using programs such as Twitter and Google Hangouts offers great opportunities to incorporate technology into social studies lessons, writes teacher Lani Ritter Hall in this blog post. In one project, Beth Sanders, a social studies teacher at Tarrant High School in Birmingham, Ala., asked her students to study the civil rights movement and then connected the classroom with experts on the subject through Google Hangouts and Twitter.
