Microsoft joins Google in carrier-billing pursuit

Google has moved aggressively to provide carrier billing services, which enable subscribers to pay for applications and music as part of the operator's monthly bill, for Google Play customers and Microsoft is looking to do the same for its Windows Phone platforms. Google has expended the service to 21 countries, including the five largest U.S. carriers, according to a BI Intelligence report. Microsoft has recently enlisted Netsize to build its platform.
