New technology will help Statoil reduce carbon emissions by 20%

Statoil is making changes to its oil sands technology that produces steam to soften bitumen before extraction. This new technique "will help us reach our target of reducing [carbon dioxide] intensity by 20% by 2020," said Statoil Canada President and CEO Stale Tungesvik. "With stable production and new technology, I would expect we'll have lower numbers this year than we had last year."
