Houston School District Plans Teacher Recruitment Bonus

In an effort to boost teacher recruitment, the Houston Independent School District reportedly is planning to give up to $5,000 in signing bonuses to new teachers next school year. Approximately 60% of last year's 1,700 new teachers had just graduated from college, a report says. School board members tomorrow are expected to review the proposal.
