Dell jumps on low-end laptop bandwagon

Dell will join the rush to build low-cost laptops with Taiwan-based Compal Electronics, which plans to ship 1 million to 2 million of the notebooks this year to Dell. "The bottom line is that we are going to enter the market with products that are smaller, lighter and address the more mobile users in a very cost-effective way," a Dell spokeswoman said.
