Florida Power plans massive solar plant for new city

Construction could start this year on a 75-megawatt photovoltaic solar plant at a $2 billion planned city in southwest Florida, dubbed Babcock Ranch. Florida Power & Light will spend between $300 million and $350 million on the solar plant, which will become one of the largest photovoltaic projects in the world. Developers say commercial buildings throughout the city may boast solar panels as well, and the city may be the first to get all of its power from solar energy.
