French lawmakers reject rules to fight Internet piracy

In a major setback to French President Nicolas Sarkozy's initiatives to support the movie and music sectors, the National Assembly rejected tough Internet regulations aimed at stopping the piracy of music and videos. While Sarkozy's proposal had wide support within France's cultural establishment, it was unpopular among voters.
