Long Island aviation industry grapples with economic woes

The tough economy is being felt on Long Island, where flight school graduates face iffy employment prospects, and flight school operators fear the fallout from a major reduction in business jet use. To make matters more competitive for new pilots, older pilots are said to be sticking around longer, pushing back retirement from the previous age of about 60 to 65.
