More companies audit dependents' health plan eligibility

Results of a new Mercer survey showed more companies are conducting health plan dependent eligibility audits to ensure workers' family members are eligible for their plans. Mercer said the number of audits has nearly doubled every year since 2006. It estimated that 3% to 8% of family members enrolled in an employer-sponsored health plan can't provide information to verify their eligibility.
