Multifaceted care helps pregnant women deal with cancer

About 1 in 1,000 pregnant women will have cancer, creating complex issues for them and their caregivers. Changes in a woman's body during pregnancy can reveal a new cancer or exacerbate an existing one, but a prompt diagnosis and a carefully planned treatment regimen improve the prognosis for these women. A multidisciplinary care team often works to determine if the woman should treat the cancer before or after delivering her baby.
