Teachers praise benefits of team teaching

Ten Rhode Island elementary-school teachers are conducting an experiment in team teaching -- a method that divides teachers by subject and has students shift classrooms throughout the day. Teachers say team, or departmentalized, teaching allows them to focus their lessons on just a few subjects, and also helps prepare younger students for responsibilities, such as changing classes and staying organized, they will face in middle school and beyond.
