Former Hearst Magazines Chairman Cathleen Black's failure as New York City's schools chancellor is a reminder that the transition from the corporate world to the political arena isn't always easy. Some who've made the jump say serving as an elected official or political appointee requires a radically different leadership style. "In the political world a significant number of people who hired you, the citizens, will disagree with you," says Rick Snyder, the former Gateway CEO who is now governor of Michigan.
