Blogger: Many people don't understand how dementia ruins lives

Blogger Nancy Wurtzel says it is difficult for people who do not have first-hand experience to really understand how dementia can ruin lives. Wurtzel, whose father had Alzheimer's disease and whose mother has symptoms of dementia, says research into dementia is splintered, there are no effective treatments and, although the government has launched a strategy to battle the disease, it is underfunded.
