Broadband projects progress

Parties that received broadband grants under the federal economic stimulus bill made significant progress last year, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration reported. Through the end of 2011, "the program has delivered significant progress in areas such as new fiber-optic infrastructure construction, the opening of new [public computing centers] and thousands of new broadband subscribers now experiencing the benefits of the high-speed Internet service," the agency stated.
