The Colorado Senate on Tuesday approved legislation that bans schools from serving food with trans fats. The amended version of the bill delays implementation of the restriction until 2013 and exempts school fundraisers and meals provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Opponents, however, say the law places a burden on schools and is unnecessary because of new federal school meal standards that already ban trans fats.
