Industry clashes with green groups about drilling rules

The Obama administration should implement new and tougher pollution standards for natural gas drilling and dismiss a "misinformation" campaign from the oil and natural gas industry against the rules, several environmental organizations wrote in a letter to White House adviser Valerie Jarrett. The green groups' effort is an attempt to stifle domestic energy production, said Carlton Carroll, a spokesman for the American Petroleum Institute. "This agenda is extreme, it will make us more reliant on energy from less stable parts of the world, and it is out of step with the views of a vast majority of Americans," Carroll said.
