Ravitch: Understanding what teachers want

Education historian Diane Ravitch writes in this blog post about a survey she said offers insight into what teachers think. In the survey, conducted by Scholastic and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, teachers said family involvement and support (84%) and high expectations (71%) would have a "very strong impact" on student achievement. Less important, surveyed teachers said, were longer school days, monetary rewards for teachers, common assessments and common standards.
