Refugees on Sudan border fleeing geopolitical conflict

Tens of thousands of residents of an oil-rich region near the border between Sudan and the now-independent South Sudan now are coping with food, water and fuel shortages as well as disease. The residents, some of whom remain in displacement camps, were driven from their homes amid renewed violence that has erupted in the disputed region, despite a 2005 peace agreement that ended decades of civil war there.
